How do I purchase TurboTax Audit Defense?

The easiest way to purchase TurboTax® Audit Defense is to purchase it when you file your taxes with TurboTax®. If you missed it this year or want to get Audit Defense for past years, you can purchase memberships through our TurboTax® Audit Defense site.

Here are the steps for purchasing audit defense after filing your tax return:

1. Navigate to our TurboTax® Audit Defense site https://intuit.taxaudit.com/ 
2. From the main menu select "Audit Defense."
   
   
   
   
   
3. Select the "Get Audit Defense" button.
   
   
   
   
   
4. A “Product Selection” screen will generate with a list of available products. 
5. Carefully review the choices and select your desired audit defense product by clicking the “Select” button to the right of the product.
6. Once you have chosen all desired products, click the “Continue” button on the bottom of the “Product Selection” screen.
   
   
   
   
   
7. You will be directed to enter your information, or the taxpayer’s information if you are purchasing for someone else. Review your entries and click the “Continue” button. 
   
   
   
   
8. You will be taken to a “Cart” page where you can review your personal information once more, and a list of the products you selected.
9. You will be asked to review the “Membership Agreement” before continuing. The “Membership Agreement” will open in a new window. Once you have reviewed the agreement, close out of the window and return to the “Cart Summary” screen.
10. Click the box at the bottom of the screen to accept the “Membership Agreement” and then click the "Checkout" button.
11. Upon acknowledgment of the agreement and hitting the "Checkout" button, a “Enter Credit Card” section will generate.
12. Enter your payment details and click the “Complete” button to complete your transaction.
13. You will receive an email confirmation of your audit defense membership purchase.
