IRS Letter 525 informs the taxpayer that the IRS is auditing his or her federal income tax return and needs a response from the taxpayer. The IRS reviewed his or her Form 1040 and made proposed changes to the taxpayer's tax. As a result, the IRS found that the taxpayer owes money.
